Re: Frame rate limits

VDV is designed to work with video streams, and when pulling from a video stream the client can not change the frame rate. It is true that if ZoneMInder is pulling from JPG it can refresh at whatever rate it wants, but VDV does not do this. To successfully parse a video stream you must grab and deco...

Re: Stop asking to verify password on camera setup screen

Hiya ishmell, We spent a lot of time in the early days troubleshooting why people could not connect to their cameras only to ultimately discover they had typed their password wrong and would seldom back up and re-edit that field. Enforcing that they match drastically reduced user irritation on setup...

Re: Web Server would be nice

Huge apology to srogala. To fight the recent spam outburst I turned on first post moderation a few days ago. Since there were some spambot accounts created prior to this and therefore able to post without this filter, I went through today and purged all accounts created this year with no posts and s...

Re: Spam/bot entries

Sorry guys. The anti-spam guards I had set up broke and I've been on the road so cleaning up has been a bit slow (extra slow because I only have my phone). I flipped the switch to require my approval for new accounts, I'll look into switching back to nicer spam measures when I get home.

Re: Resolved: Problem with manual configuration

No, you first need to use some sort of software to read from your webcam and rebroadcast it over http. Frink used webcam XP (as have some other users of VDV), but I believe there are other programs that will do this as well. I haven't used any of them and can't give specific recommendations.

Re: Resolved: Problem with manual configuration

Hi pcmac, He is doing this because the webcam is actually built into a different computer (at the top of the laptop screen) than the computer running Vitamin D Video. Though even with USB webcams, as they are inherently shortly wired, you would need to have the connected to different computers scatt...

Re: This message has no content.

Hi sqwerb, I agree with Semper that problem is likely somewhere between your computer and your inbox (the actions performed by VDV certainly haven't changed). What email provider are you using? They might have recently updated their backend or changed some rules. If you happen to be using a major pr...

Re: How can I remotely back up my CCTV footage?

In addition to using ftp, a simple old fashioned solution would be to store the video on an external usb hard drive and physically secure that hard drive to something (locked in a drawer, bolted to something, etc..). Many thefts are grab and go, but even lingering thieves would be unlikely to exert ...

Re: Backend alerts not working in service

Audio alerts? I can definitely believe that windows doesn't allow services to play audio, or disallows audio when a user is logged off though I don't know for sure. If you are referring to email or ftp responses, this would surprise me greatly. If it is one of the latter I'd suggest choosing "r...
