Re: Monitoring Resolution

kram, We've found that IP cameras tend to be better for hooking up to computers, since they plug into Ethernet (or connect via WiFi). We've also played a lot with USB webcams, though most of them tend not to be as optimized for security / monitoring purposes (they're not good w/ low light, in genera...

Re: Space disappearing on Windows Drive

browerd, Vitamin D Video will always record to the tmp folder located on your main drive, then move them to their final destination. If there are problems copying these files or if Vitamin D Video is crashing for some reason, the files can get left in the tmp directory. Vitamin D Video does attempt ...

Re: Monitoring Resolution

1. The Basic edition can record at 320x240, 640x480, 1024x768, or 1280x1024. However, the application itself will only show up to 640x480. The higher resolutions can be used if you export the video from Vitamin D Video and then use another program to look at them. The 640x480 video will be better th...

Re: How to prevent my cat from being a person?

curiousCat, I don't have any great suggestions above Ryan's. I would suggest trying to talk to your cats and tell them that they're not people, but I'm afraid that won't work (trust me, I've tried). VDV is pretty good at telling people from inanimate objects like cars, but we couldn't get it to reli...

Re: How does it delete clips?

Dale, Quick delete: delete just the tracking data, but no video. The video gets cleaned up periodically. Permanent delete: delete the exact clip that you're looking at, but not any surrounding video. In order to do this, Vitamin D Video needs to split/reencode the surrounding video (so it can keep i...

Re: How does it delete clips?

Dale, Hopefully this post on our old forum answers your questions: https://vitamind.fogbugz.com/default.asp?video.1.307.2 To put it briefly: Vitamin D Video records all video (not just video w/ objects in it) for a certain number of days. By default, VDV keeps 2 days worth of all video, but you can ...

Re: Duplicate uploads to FTP server

Dave, I've seen the problem you're describing before. When I've seen it, it has to do with the fact that there are two different types of rules in Vitamin D Video: those that are looking for an exact instant and those that are looking for something that happens over a period of time. Examples of ins...

Re: Logitech Alert 750i and 750e?

jwshukis, I'm looking at this thread and trying to figure out how to add support for these cameras into the app. I'm a little baffled by your report that "/LowResolutionVideo" worked but "LowResolutionVideo" didn't. I've confirmed that these produce the exact same setting to be s...

Re: Minmize to System Tray

us035976, Nope, you didn't miss it. Sorry, but we haven't yet gotten to implement that. ...but: ⋅ If you quit the main app and have cameras running (or scheduled to run), VDV will keep capturing video even though the main app isn't running. ⋅ If you minimize the app (I know, it's...
