Re: Keep building up video files

Sighthound records EVERYTHING to disk in a series of contiguous files and when one of your rules is met due to motion, then a database is updated to point into those files about 5 seconds before the motion was detected to about 15 seconds after. This way, you can see a few seconds of what happened b...

Re: Lost Clips

I am 99.99% sure they are gone. There is a very, VERY slight chance that a file recovery type utility might be able to recover the files. If SightHound (or any other program) has been writing to the disk since their deletion, then the area on the platters has been overwritten and nothing can recover...

Re: Best driver for Acti I71 ?

Does it stop at the same times every day and the gaps the same length at each time of day?

That camera as some built-in timing functions that might have gotten programmed in that is now turning the camera off periodically. Just guessing.

Re: 24/7 recording

It does save video 24/7, but only lists the clips where motion was detected... AND it only keeps the non-motion video and the non-rule video for the period you specify in the "Tools|Options" "Storage" tab, (default is 48 hours I think), or until you run out of room on the disk. N...

Re: Motion detect set to "People" but getting unwanted alert

Sorry, I don't use the remote features of SightHound so I don't know what you can do away from the computer. I'd assume you would need "remote access" already setup on the PC, which I know can be done, but I have never done it. SightHound has lots of features and although I have been using...

Re: Help - I cannot find a low end camera

I just bought a "D-Link Cloud" camera... "HD Pan & Tilt Day/Night Network Camera" model "DCS 5222L" from Wal*Mart for $169.97 (No optical Zoom, the "zoom" mentioned on the box is just a magnification provided by the Browser interface.) Took a bit of head s...

Re: Motion detect set to "People" but getting unwanted alert

When you look at the list of video clips, you will see EVERYTHING that has motion detected in it. But if you look a bit closer at the text at the bottom of each item in the list, you will see that those clips that do not match a rule state that fact. That clip will persist in the list for however lo...

Re: Reverted to defaults

Yeah the SightHound techs are always saying to not play with the files outside of the program's interface. (And I have shot myself in the foot a few times doing it with SightHound and some other programs!) Was SightHound running when you edited the file? I could see that getting things confused, but...

Re: Reverted to defaults

I have had a similar problem occur with other programs. I wrote an alarm clock program many years ago where I can set repeating alarms to remind me of birthdays and appointments and such. It stores the alarm info in the Windows Registry. Sometimes, (not very often, maybe once every 5 or 6 months) in...

Re: Multiple Settings for One Rule

An alternative would be to be able to select multiple rules when filtering the video list in "Search" mode. I have wanted to view a series of videos from 3 cameras to track an event across the three views and switching between the three cameras/rules is tedious because of the length of tim...
