Re: Walking behind obstacles creates multiple clips

I had a similar problem with a tree that was in the middle of my front yard and split the scene in two. Mother nature eliminated the problem by removing the majority of the tree for me (I had to pay someone to finish the job), but I realize not everyone can rely on that. Prior to that I decided whic...

Re: object recognition at night

I am using some el-cheap-o web cams at 640x480 resolution (one third of a mega pixel) and they are absolutely lousy in the dark... one scene in particular is illuminated by a street light 1/2 block away, producing a faint orange glow in the upper right corner, but SH will alert me to someone walking...

Re: Constant SSD writes SOLVED!!!

A good solution, but I have some concerns and then a couple of questions... One concern is that a power failure would result in a total loss of all data. This could be mitigated with a very good Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) for the system. However the generally available ones for the average c...

Re: sighthound improvements

A VM is a "Virtual Machine"... it uses CPU time to run the program in the "VM" as well as CPU time to handle the interface between the real hardware and the 'pretend' hardware that the program running in the VM thinks it is accessing. Thus, running any program in a VM is slightly...

Re: sighthound improvements

Well... you didn't say that you were writing to a limited usage drive, so that might be a consideration. I have been considering getting an SSD to see how that might improve my system, but this "limited write lifetime" has been a concern to me and has slowed my action in that regard (not t...

Re: sighthound improvements

In reality, it does not matter how much video is saved to the disk, the only data that ultimately is kept is that which matches a rule (and that is pared down to just that segment). The rest of the video data, where the motion does not match a rule or where there is no motion at all, is deleted afte...

You can create multiple rules, each with a different region.

Re: People detected on other objects and other issues

For help with the Foscam 9821W do a "Google" search with this line; sighthound foscam 9821W site:www.sighthound.com You will get a list of other threads where others have found help (I think). As for the problem if detecting any object and calling it "People"... You could set an ...
