Re: Pink picture

This is probably the loss of one of the 3 primary color processors (Green) in the camera. It could be temporary, or a permanent loss. Sometimes electronic circuitry just wears out and sometimes that is accelerated by temperature changes and sometimes temperature extremes (even mild ones) just cause ...

Re: Not recording when people are not moving

Yes, 200 hours (8.33 days) will work. I set mine to 720 hours (30 days) and that may be a bit excessive. I am not sure what happens when the allocated space is filled and 30 days have not elapsed yet. I assume that it just deletes the oldest files regardless of whether they are saved by rule or not....

Re: sighthound not opening

Just to jump in here and maybe grease the way for the SightHound folk who may have Saturday off... You need to tell them what computer/Operating System you using... MAC or PC? As to why the program won't get past the "Please wait"... I am pretty much clueless and you will have to wait for ...

Re: Not recording when people are not moving

You might try the following to view the "missed" video. In "Search" mode, select just that one camera from the drop down list at the top. Then select the rule saved video nearest to the time you want to view the previous or later video (or click in the timeline below the video wi...

Re: Sinology NAS & Sighthound

I am running on a quad-core PC with 6 cameras and I am noticing that at times the CPUs are pushing 100% usage. On thing you can do is set some cameras to only run at certain times of the day. This might free CPU power for other tasks during the times you are present in the area the cameras view and ...

Re: Camera Offline Notification

I have one IP cam (and 5 USB cams); the IP cam is hardwired to a router, which is then hardwired to the PC. (My Surveillance system does not use WiFi.) Also, the router is NOT connected to the internet so there is no internet connection at all for this system (which stymies my ability to license the...

Re: Missing DLL when placing Sighthound in START

I suspect that maybe you put the SightHound executable in the Start folder instead of a "Shortcut" to the executable the "Programs Files (x86)/SightHound Video" folder; which is where the library files (".dll") are located. Programs cannot find their libraries unless th...

Re: Distortion in Sighthound video

This has been reported by others under other entries in this forum, but the titles usually don't lead one to thinking of the same problem... It has been described as "streaky" and "smeared" and some other terms. The fix is usually to append the following: ?svforcetcp to the end o...

Re: Why would loss of *Internet* connectivity prevent *WiFi*

Two thoughts come to mind, not that either of them will help! 1. It could be that the cameras were trying to "phone home" and when the internet connection was lost, they were too busy trying to contact an internet site to respond to polling from SH. I don't know why any camera would do tha...

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Sorry... VDV is Vitamin D Video, the original name of SightHound. I started with it a long time ago and was pleased when SightHound bought the product and has been further enhancing it. There are many brands and models of remote AC switch available. Mine is a Harbor Freight Tools wonder; similar to ...
