sighthound not opening

by stefaninoi » Sat Jan 03, 2015 4:59 am

Hello, I am having an issue with sighthound.
A while ago I changed the location where videos recorded by sighthound were stored. Now I can't remember where this new location was. On top of that, whenever I try to open the sighthound program it gives me a loading window that says "just a moment" but it never completes and thus I cannot open the program at all to see the videos I am looking for.
I would appreciate if you could help me with either a method for finding the location I saved the videos in or a fix for the issue of not being able to open the program.
Thanks!

Just to jump in here and maybe grease the way for the SightHound folk who may have Saturday off...

You need to tell them what computer/Operating System you using... MAC or PC?

As to why the program won't get past the "Please wait"... I am pretty much clueless and you will have to wait for the Techs here to respond. I might suggest that you uninstall the program and then reinstall it... BUT you probably should attempt to find the old files FIRST so that you can delete them to make room for the new ones when the program is running again. Uninstalling it might delete the files and then you'd be up a crick trying to find them later.

A second thought! You could just do a whole disk search for files with a filename extension of ".mp4" and when you find lots and lots with names that are 10 numerical digits, a dash and 6 more digits,

(something like: 1419918114-973373.mp4")

that is probably where they are... there should be a separate folder for each day (a folder with a 5 digit name) inside a separate folder for each camera (a folder with the same name as the camera)! It just might take a long time to search the disk that way.
