Re: Camera viewing

If you are using an IP cam (network cam) , you can view it using a browser at any time. This can be done simultaneously with SightHound (up to the limit of how many users can connect to the camera, which is a function of the camera's firmware). Or when SightHound is not using the camera. Two program...

Cannot post replies in EDGE browser

In reference to my previous post about being unable to log in when using the new EDGE browser... I found that although the "Log-in" button is broke, I can log-in by pressing the "Enter" key when the cursor is still in the Password box after I type the password. BUT... now I canno...

Problem logging into forums

No problem with SightHound, but my everyday use PC (not the one SightHound runs on) went flooey on Tuesday morning and would not turn on... so I had to go buy a new PC. So... I am now a proud (?) user of Windows 10. Got all my files off the old HDD by swapping it into an external USB drive case and ...

Re: Cameras stop recording

When you say, "Stop recording" do you mean that you still see an image in the main display and thumbnails to the side but no longer see any clips in the 'Search' mode? Or do you mean that the display shows, 'Cannot connect' and you don't see images at all?

Re: Record but Mute Alerts

You could create two rules that are identical in settings except one issues a certain type of alert and the other rule some other type (or none) and then set one to run at certain times of the day and the other on the remaining times. (Times of operation are set by a link at the bottom of the view w...

Re: Lots of temp files

They seem to be associated with when SightHound starts. I restarted Sighthound back on the 13th when I installed 2.5.1 and had some problems so I have 12 copies of these files (10 created at 11:02 and 2 at 11:04), but none since then. There are some parallel folders if you back up one in the path th...

Re: Every few days "cannot connect to camera," needs restart

Yes, Sorry I don't have an answer as to why a camera would stop recording for a time during the day. I was just attempting to ease the burden of how to fix it. Are your cameras connected via WiFi? Something could be interfering with the WiFi signal causing a disconnect. It might also be a temperatur...

Re: Adding a PTZ Camera to Sighthound?

I now have two cameras with remote Pan and Tilt features and do use those features periodically. Yes, it can cause a slew of alerts to be issued, depending on the particular rules and which direction I pan or tilt. But otherwise it works without a problem. Unless the camera has "Optical Zoom&qu...

Re: Every few days "cannot connect to camera," needs restart

@jasongordon... if you Turn OFF all cameras before you close the Sighthound application you will not have to use Task Manager to kill the sub processes. (This is by design, so that the user interface can be terminated, but the sub processes continue to record video and apply the rules.)
