Re: Windows Sound Mixer volume adjustments

Interesting: I read this forum everyday... sometimes twice or three times per day... probably more often than the folk that run the place! This is the first time I have seen your post from back in February! Strange! Just one more sign I am going senile, maybe. As for your problem... I see only the &...

Re: How to filter out temporary video from search

You can select individual Rules for each camera, but that limits the list to just that one camera. You can also select the default rules of "People" and "Other objects" to limit to just those that meet those selections, but of course, those will include temporary videos, too, but...

Re: Laptop question about recording (sleep, hiber, closing l

Like any program, Sighthound must be running for the program to do anything. "Hibernation" and "Sleep Mode" both turn off the CPU, thus Sighthound will no longer be running. Your Laptop computer should have a configuration app (part of windows Control Panel) that allows you to de...

Re: Speed detection tool

I have some observations to contribute on this idea. I must say that I think it would be a neat thing to add to SightHound, but I seriously doubt if it would be all that worthwhile, because it would have inherent inaccuracies. I wrote a computer program some time ago that I use to determine the spee...

Re: Normal lead time of a command or a sound

DRAT! I composed the most eloquent reply yesterday... the most beautiful bit of prose that was ever written... answered your question as well as provided a solution to the Unified Theory, a cure for the common cold, and what happened to Jimmy Hoffa's body... but alas it took me so long to compose it...

Re: Confused about storage allocation

The logic may seem strange, but the overall limiting factor is available disk space for any video. Temporary Video (that not to be saved by rule) is mostly useless and taking up space that otherwise could be used for long-term storage of video that is of more interest (Rule Saved Video). If the prog...

Re: Normal lead time of a command or a sound

Yes, there is a delay between an event actually occurring in the scene and the playing of the sound file by the computer to tell us about it. Part of that is "processing time" to determine that motion has occurred and then to determine if it is a person or something else, and then scheduli...

Re: Cameras don't work all of the sudden

You might have already tried this, but physically turn the cameras off and back on. Same with the Router they run thru. Rebooting the computer might help too. I have had cameras go silly on me and these things have fixed the problem.

Re: Update 3.0.1 Connection Issue

Well that answers the question I was about to ask. Currently running the 14 day trial and things were looking good until the system started just dropping the camera at odd times. So I was going to ask if it was fixed but it would appear not. When it first happened I assumed it might be the camera d...

Re: How to clean database after deleted camera or changed na

I think there are two things in your comment that are significant... one is that it was 2 days (48-hours) which is the default length of time to keep all raw videos. This implies that cleaning the database of deleted cameras may occur on the same interval as cleaning the folders of non-rule video. T...
