Windows Sound Mixer volume adjustments

by ArieArie » Sun Feb 21, 2016 3:30 pm

I was trying to adjust the volume of the sound that is played every time someone crosses the "My Region" area. I set it up to play a "bing" sound.
The system plays the sound too loud to my liking (relative to other apps) so when I opened the mixer to adjust the sound for Sighthound, I found that the sighthound app opens a new slider in the mixer every time it plays the bing.

This causes two problems:
a) there is no way to adjust the specific volume of the sound effect without affecting the sound of the whole Windows system.

b) The Windows mixer is not very usable when it has more slider (initiated mixer by sighthound) than room on my screen (see attachment)

Thanks

Arie

each slider with "Name Not Available" is a one time bing sound. There are more of those slider to the right of the screen, but my display is not big enough..

Interesting: I read this forum everyday... sometimes twice or three times per day... probably more often than the folk that run the place! This is the first time I have seen your post from back in February! Strange! Just one more sign I am going senile, maybe.

As for your problem... I see only the "Speaker" and "System sounds" volume controls on my system. And I have 7 cameras with 9 rules that play different sounds to help me differentiate what is happening.

What are the specs of your system? Operating system, sound card brand/model, etc.

This is an area that I have not had much experience with... never had a real problem with it so I have not studied the options and settings available and don't know what can be done with them. In looking through them I see lots of settings that don't make much sense to me as to what they do and I wonder if maybe some of them might cause duplication of entries if they are disabled and some program wants to play a sound.
