Re: will this computer work

As a satisfied user of SH, I think what you have planned should be peachy-keen. As long as you don't have the computer otherwise occupied with CPU and Disk intensive activities (like 3 people playing World of Warcraft games simultaneously) it should be fine. (I assume the cameras are IP [network] ty...

Re: digital zoom

Until such is a feature of SightHound (I don't know if it ever will be, I am just a long time satisfied user), I have been using the "Magnifier" program in Windows. Works for both viewing in 'Camera' mode (including seeing the thumbnails of the cameras that are not showing in the main view...

Re: Confused about storage allocation

It depends on a few things... all interrelated. Of course it depends on how long ago you wish to view videos. But the major one being how much disk space you have allocated to Sighthound. That space is consumed by the videos and how big they are, which is a function of the resolution and frame rate ...

Re: Video from Triggered Rules not being saved

What tells you the rule is not being triggered? What is the rule supposed to do... i.e.: Play a sound and you don't hear one? Send an e-mail and you don't get one? In the "Search" mode... do you see any entries that do not have "Not saved by a rule" text below the name of the cam...

Re: Sighthound 3.0

I can't get past the log-in screen because the PC is not connected to the internet. Can't even run the 1 camera free version. When I try to close the Log-in dialog, SightHound unloads and terminates. I tried to go back to the previous version and it would not run either... same problem. Even uninsta...

Re: Clips from Yesterday Disappear.

Are you thinking that the 50GB is for each camera or for all of them together... same for the time limit...those are both for all cameras in total. Just one of my cameras takes around 37GB per day! Depending on the resolution of your cameras they could be using over 50GB per day in total.

Re: Clips from Yesterday Disappear.

Yes, it seems that SightHound allocates storage for all cameras in the quota that you set, not for each individual camera. I am wondering if maybe OneDrive and DropBox are using too much disk space for temporary storage for files to be eventually uploaded to the cloud/internet/whatever and it is pos...

Re: Clips from Yesterday Disappear.

Does the drive actually have 50GB available? It is possible that it is deleting relatively recent files because there just simply is not room to keep them as new files are created.

Re: Zoom

Some cameras have a zoom feature, but of course, that is not usable with the pre-recorded video after the fact. Another option in Windows is the Magnifier program. You run "Magnify.exe" (in the Windows/System32 folder), then you can vary the size of the window that opens and move the mouse...

Re: Random disconnect failures (Foscam FI8905W)

I have two different brands of IP cameras (neither is a Foscam) and both exhibit a loss of connection at times. A TrendNET brand cam does exhibit a regular loss of data at 355 seconds (5 minutes 55 seconds) as well as what seems to be at totally random times that occur sometimes a lot and sometimes ...
