If you are using an IP cam (network cam) , you can view it using a browser at any time. This can be done simultaneously with SightHound (up to the limit of how many users can connect to the camera, which is a function of the camera's firmware). Or when SightHound is not using the camera. Two programs accessing an IP cam will double the data being transmitted over the network (WiFi or wire); they do not share just one data stream. But that should not be a problem unless you have an extremely slow network, extremely high resolution and frame rates, and a poor or no data compression algorithm, and many cameras in use at the same time.
If you are using USB/WEB cams then as long as SightHound does not have the Cameras "Armed" or "ON" or "Connected" (those all mean the same thing in SightHound) then you can use another program (such as AMCAP) to access the camera. The drivers for most Web cams are not written to let multiple programs access the data stream, so if SightHound is using the camera, then a separate program will get an error when it attempts to access it. The same is true the other way 'round, so when you want SightHound to access the camera, you must terminate any other program to release it to SightHound's use or SightHound won't be able to access it.
