Re: Reolink 520 camera

I have a camera that periodically will refuse to connect. I have found that sometimes I need to cycle power on the camera and other times I have to cycle power on the router (Wifi or hardwire). I have yet to figure out why.

Re: Experience using cameras for everyone

What do you intend to do with the story when you have it completed? Post it in a blog and point to it in a post here? Post it here in some thread? Publish it? How? Is it to be just a list of cameras and comments about its usefulness as a surveillance camera? i.e.: a reference list? Or is it to be a ...

Re: Only record when movement in a rules region.

There have been some complaints that SH rules fail to work properly when SH is run in a Virtual Machine. See the thread: topic13337

Re: Only record when movement in a rules region.

Yes, ALL video is saved to disk constantly. ANY motion will cause an entry in the database as motion detected, regardless of where it occurs or if it fits a rule. When in "Search" mode, to see clips where motion occurred only in a rule specified region, select the rule that describes the r...

Re: 24 hour loop recording

It records continuously until the limit you set is reached, then it deletes the oldest video, replacing it with new. It also has a database that records the time of detected motion so you can review just those clips, later. There are actually 3 levels of recorded video. All of it is raw data for as ...

Re: Netatmo cameras

Do these cameras need to "phone home" in order to operate? i.e.: is an internet connection required or can it run on a local network only?

How are they powered?

Re: Amcrest IP4M-1028EB lost connection to Sighthound video

Reset your router. That often helps my system when a camera gets stuck in a cycle of losing the connection, having trouble reconnecting, maybe connecting again, then losing it again.

You might also see if you can set a permanent IP address for the camera (a setting in the camera's setup web page).

Re: Camera has power but no connectivity?

Your continuity tester probably only tests for low resistance from one end to the other. This only indicates that DC (Direct Current) power can pass from one end to the other, but at the frequencies of the signals of a network there are things that can attenuate the AC (Alternating current) signal t...

Re: Memory Leak

I don't know what you mean by "pumping", but as long as the camera is "ON" in Sighthound the video is being recorded to the storage device... the only thing that breaks that raw continuous video into clips is a rule that writes the start time of the trigger into the database. (Th...
