Re: Use Old Cox, Xfinity or other Cable Company Security Cam

Well... if you are getting the request for user name and password then you have power to the camera and it is turned on and working. Now you are trying to get past the log-on. Usually, in most any log-on sequence on any network device the user name is not case sensitive so "Administrator" ...

Re: Main Camera Pane

It is a very narrow gap and sometimes if you move the mouse too quickly it may not change to the double-ended arrow. Try again. Does the mouse arrow change to the left and right double-ended arrow when it is in that area? I'm just guessing as to why you cannot get it to work. I don't know your level...

Re: Main Camera Pane

Position your mouse arrow in the gap between the main view and the thumbnails. The mouse arrow will change to a double-ended sideways arrow. Click and drag that area to the right. The two areas will resize.

Re: How to filter out temporary video from search

There is one more complication. Videos in the list that show the text "Temporary video (not saved by a rule)" may also contain video that IS saved by rule. If the video clip has any portion that is not part of the video saved because of a rule, that text is displayed. I find this misleadin...

Re: Web Server would be nice

Huge apology to srogala. To fight the recent spam outburst I turned on first post moderation a few days ago. Since there were some spambot accounts created prior to this and therefore able to post without this filter, I went through today and purged all accounts created this year with no posts and ...

Re: (PTZ) camera controller with sitehound video how To.

DRAT! I just typed a massive tome of wonderful prose for you and the system logged me out so when I clicked "Submit" it all went bye-bye! USB Web Cams... They work fine with SightHound except for some "Gotchas". First of all they don't work well (or at all) at night without some ...

Re: sitehound video in Task Manger 9 times

So 2 of the 9 are to handle the rules for motion detection for your cameras and the other 7 instances are the processes that SightHound is doing in the background for operation of the surveillance system. It is not like there are 7 identical programs in your computer, but each instance is a core pro...

Re: (PTZ) camera controller with sitehound video how To.

I do too, but all that video from each camera has to run down the same wire from the router to the computer. Granted, hardwire has a much higher bandwidth and bit rate than WiFi, but it still all has to fit in that wire serially. 2 cameras is not bad. I have 4 network cameras on a hardwired, indepen...

Re: (PTZ) camera controller with sitehound video how To.

What PTZ controller software are you using? I just log into the camera's web address using a browser and control the camera that way. I shrink the browser window or drag the majority of the window off screen to show just the control buttons so it does not take up much screen real estate, but it stil...

Re: Do I need a newer MAC??

A new, more powerful computer is almost always a good idea. But SH is not using as much of a video card as one might think. Most of the processing is done with the CPU. The Video card is better for handling the calculations required for computer generated "object" (such as the mouse arrow ...
