Re: Weird SPAM Posts

Irritatin'! Ain't it? From my experience with other forums, the phpBB software that this forum runs on seems to attract these buzzards, (yes, other forums also get them, but those that run phpBB seem to be more commonly hit for some odd reason). I also figure that the name/URL of the company,...

A "magnified" enhancement you can do!

I am running 4 cameras, which show in the thumbnail area to the right of the display with the one selected one in the main view on the left. I would like larger thumbnails, and as I happen to have a wide computer screen, there is plenty of room for larger ones but the program has no provision (yet) ...

Re: Alert triggers when camera is armed

I am sure you will get an answer from VDV soon, but I have a couple of comments. I use a Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000 as one of 5 cameras on my system and have not seen the problem you describe. However I have seen a rule trigger because the camera seems to arbitrarily decide to go through an automatic...

Play Sound Action

I appreciate the rule "Action - Play Sound" feature. I especially like the supplied sound, "Person detected; Recording video." (Clear and emphatic; easily understood.) But when running 4 cameras I needed more info as to which camera had tripped a rule. So I created my own sound f...

Re: Problem with cameras

With regard to empty folders in the data directory - we aren't as aggressive with cleaning up empty folders as we are with files, given that they take essentially zero space. There can also be some pretty nasty side effects if one is overzealous with this sort of thing - Process A creates a directo...

Re: Problem with cameras

I am unable to repeat some of the things I have described and I question some of what I said because of that, as it was all written from memory. So right as I type this I have just rebooted the surveillance PC and will do some of the things and report exactly "what I see as I see them" rig...

Re: Problem with cameras

Oh yeah... The 45 day problem. I sent a set of log files to Celeste a month or so ago, but no one found a problem in them. But I may have obfuscated it all by doing some manual clean-up of the directories myself. After I started getting the random disconnects I started poking around and found that a...

Re: Problem with cameras

Additional experimentation produces more confusing info: I also began to wonder if maybe it had to do with the order that the cameras were recognized by Winders... So I unplugged all of them and rebooted. Once VDV was up and running, I plugged in the cameras and turned them on in VDV one at a time. ...

Accessing Railcam

There is a web cam at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia, sponsored by Trains Magazine, that is at address: http://128.173.197.94:443/RRCmov The camera is aimed at the Norfolk and Southern RR track through Downtown Roanoke for us "Railfans" to see trains. It is a very good camera with ...
