EYEsurv ESIP-MP1.3-BT1

I just purchased the EYEsurv ESIP-MP1.3-BT1 from Nelly's Surplus in hopes that it will work with VDV. Before purchasing I did find documentation of the RTSP string that can access the camera's stream, so I was hopeful that it would work. But last night and today it thwarted all my efforts toward coo...

Re: email a screen capture

Here's something to keep under consideration: I had an nVidia 8800 GTX that was great for gaming (back in the day) but was miserable on power consumption. The card accounted for around 100 watts of power during idle, and even more while gaming. It may be that the 9800 GTX is similar to the 8800 GTX ...

Re: email a screen capture

It's interesting that Falcon was able to reproduce my finding of lowering CPU utilization via minimizing VDV. (Yay! I've contributed to the community!) Even more I suspect that Semper is right that a good discrete graphics card may help with CPU utilization. I might try to work on my PC tonight to s...

Re: email a screen capture

Way interesting... It may be true about the graphics card having an impact. The old PC I was running it on had integrated Intel graphics on the motherboard. When I do eventually get my security PC set up I'll experiment with both onboard and discrete graphics to see how much of a difference it makes...

Re: email a screen capture

Semper,

Your performance information is encouraging. Your CPU is about 20% faster than Falcon's, but your utilization is substantially lower (though still quite high).

Does your CPU utilization dive when you minimize VDV like I noticed last year on my 2-camera setup?

Re: email a screen capture

Unfortunately I figured out that vit d needs a lot of hardware. I have a q6600 cpu with 6gb of ram, but with 6 cameras running at the lowest resolution all 4 cores are at 100 percent cpu. If I try to add anymore cameras they start to not be able to keep up with the video.. Holy smokes! That's more ...

Re: What IR cameras?

Forgot to add information about wireless cameras. I purchased 3 different ones: A dLink (probably 8 years ago or so), a Axis 207MW, and a Foscam FI8918W. The dLink shouldn't even count since it wasn't even all that good back in the day, and when I looked at the quality again a few weeks ago I decide...

Re: What IR cameras?

Jason, I know the pain. Last year we started getting woken up in the middle of the night by violent knocks/doorbell ringings by unknown persons. I'd go to the door and there'd be no one there. It happened twice in 4 nights, and was then followed up with about 100-200 firecrackers going off on the fr...

Re: Loftek Sentinel D1

Unfortunately, the developers can't purchase every camera and work out how to get it to work with their software. However, they do have some information on how to figure out the settings for an unknown camera in the sticky section of this forum in the "How to access an unsupported camera" ...

PV-149 capture card seems to work fine!

I purchased a used one off of eBay, and once I loaded up the drivers, VDV sees the 4 individual inputs separately! I was under the impression that it probably wouldn't work but wanted to give it a shot. From my limited testing with the Basic version of VDV tonight it didn't have a problem with the 2...
