I have a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2 and I'm unable to login to SH the last few days. It was working great on my old phone. I have to believe it has to do with the new iOS. My firewall has been off the entire time on the server computer. I get the same messages as the above, "Error connecting to Server" and sometimes the -1001 error.

I've tried it on Wifi and on Verizon LTE with no luck.

I was able to login from another iMac on the same network using the external IP address. Just not able to access it with the iPhone 6.

Update:
I deleted the SH app on my iPhone 6 and reinstalled the app from the app store cloud. It is back working now! :)
I will keep you updated.

When you enter the address into a web browser (internal when on the same network as the computer running Sighthound and external when outside of the network) does a login dialog pop up or does it not load at all? If you click on the "Local" or "Internal" links from the remote access tab are you able to log in?

Devin,

Yes, Both the web browser and the app both work locally. The external server is very spotty for some reason. But again, I recieve notification is something sets one of my rules off.

Hi Chris,

Is the device or computer you are testing the External Address from connected to a different network than the computer running Sighthound? Many routers will not allow you to connect to an externally facing address from within the same network.

It may also be worth changing the port number in the remote access settings in case there is a port conflict.

My router is a Motorola NVG589. I still can't get it figured out

Hi whitezryder,

I found a port forwarding guide for a similar router. The steps should be the same: http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... tguide.htm

You will basically want to forward your internal address do an external port. For example, let's say the "Internal Address" listed in the remote access tab is "123.123.123.123:8080". You will want to enter 8080 for both the "Host Port" and "Global Port", then select the computer with IP "123.123.123.123" for the service.

Once you have finished the port forwarding you should be able to connect by entering your networks external address (see whatsmyip.org) with the port 8080.

On day 6 now with no issues using the app and replaying video content on my iPhone 6. Seems to be a little faster now after last upgrade. Keep up the great work guys!

I had to set up port forwarding to get my foscams available to view on my phone. I was able to set up port forwarding for them with no issues and I can view them in the foscam app on my phone. I am unable to get the sighthound app to log in. The "external address" still says attempting to connect, and I can't log in to the app from my phone.

Hi whitezryder,

Have you tried deleting the app from your phone and then downloading it again from the app store and reinstalling it? Go into Sighthound on your computer and in Preferences change your username and password. Then match that on your phone app. Give that a try. It worked for me.
