More Cameras with Additional Memory?

The available cpu cycles seems to be the limiting factor in determining how many cameras you can run. More cores, more cameras. I often read about how adding RAM can increase performance for CPU intensive tasks, such as video editing. Would adding memory help VDV process more cameras without crashin...

Log Files?

Is there a log file anywhere? path/filename on a Mac?

I'm looking for logs of cameras with low frame rate warnings and other errors.

Thanks

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

I'm working on adding cameras. I've learned the if you turn the cameras on one by one you can easily identify the process in activity monitor. I have an Axis 1054 HD cam that has 23 fps and a clear picture despite being in low light conditions. Yet, when I start it in V, it consumes 40% CPU. Is this...

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

Update: I reduced the number of cameras and V is stable again.

I plan to add cameras slowly. I also will increase illumination at night. Long term I may need a bigger computer than a Mac mini so I can run 6-8 cameras.

Please add an SMS client

I have V configured to send a text message to my cell phone when a rule is triggered. These text messages routinely arrive hours after being sent. I just learned that sending text messages to my phone using SMTP is the reason the text messages are late. (And therefore useless.) For fast SMS delivery...

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

> On OSX the data storage directory is: /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/Vitamin D Video/ Can I just rename this folder? I am currently running both VitD and SecuritySpy. Each uses different cameras. I'm starting V with just the iSight. I'll add cameras after demonstrating stabili...

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

I just figured out how to copy the apple crash report. (You gotta "select all" then right click on it to find a "copy" option. The menu is grayed out.) The file is not where you said. Maybe it's invisible, but nothing is there, even right after a crash. (I tried using transmit an...

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

This crash is now happening multiple times per day. I'd like to try re-install VitD. I assume just delete VitD from my app folder. Are there any other places that files are kept? Path and name? Is there a prefs file I can try to salvage that will save my rules and other settings? Where is that and w...
