MacOS 10.9 - Anyone upgrade? Does VDV still work?

I'm still using a years-old version of VDV, would like to know if anyone is using the old version (prior to SightHound) with MacOS 10.9. (That's the new, free version that was released yesterday.) Yes, I plan on upgrading to SightHound, but I'll wait a bit because VDV is critical software for my sec...

Re: Remotely Arm / Disarm cameras. Help with ideas

I'm on a Mac. MobileMe allows me to share screen remotely. Can see screen from home, and control cursor, too, so I can turn anything on or off, etc.

If I didn't have that, I'd look at the various "remote management" software packages that are out there.

Re: More Cores = More Cameras. What about Virtual Cores?

I'm currently running 5 cameras routinely on a dedicated one year old duel core mac mini, with room to add at least one more.

I guess a quad core mac will handle a dozen cameras.

More Cores = More Cameras. What about Virtual Cores?

Apple offers the Intel i7 chip as an option. This chip has 4 physical cores (same as i5 chip) but runs software that creates 8 virtual cores. This is Apple's description of the technology: Hyper-Threading (Intel Core i7 only) — a technology that allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core ...

Re: iPhone/iPad App?

Somewhere in Vdv there are configuration options for where. start at the main vdv window. Be in Monitor view. Click on a camera. Then click on the rules symbols (next to the checkbox). A window should open called "rule editor." You'll see "my computer" and "options" but...

Re: Vitamin D Agent quit unexpectedly

I have resolved this situation, I think. You were correct: there was a problem camera, an Axis 207. It was the first camera I bought. I didn't notice the problem at first because as the first cam the computer had sufficient excess resources to run everything OK despite the load. It was only after I ...

Re: False Alarms Since Latest MacOS Security Update

I can't see how to delete this post or I would. Maybe you can? I've figured it out. It has nothing to do with the OS update. Two things happened by coincidence in both rooms with cameras the same night as the update. Both involved lights that started flickering. One is a bad florescent bulb, the oth...

False Alarms Since Latest MacOS Security Update

Yesterday the Software Update thingy said I had a security update to install, so I did the usual thing and updated. Last night there were a total of 56 false alarms from all cameras. Nothing else changed about my setup. My usual rate of false alarms is one a day or so. Anyone else experience this? A...

Re: More Cameras with Additional Memory?

The crash thread is here
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=168

It's an "agent" crash. It stops all actions/notifications.

That's too bad, I was hoping for an easy fix that doesn't involve a new computer.

Re: iPhone/iPad App?

I'm hacking together a solution using gmail, an app called boxcar, and my cell provider's email-sms gateway. Boxcar is a push notification app that doesn't use much battery because it uses native push daemons which are running on the iphone anyway, doesn't drain the battery as much as pushing email....
