Re: Why would loss of *Internet* connectivity prevent *WiFi*

Hi Semper, Thanks for the detailed notes on the problems you have had. I wonder about your 1st idea - I'm not so sure you are being paranoid. It is becoming quite common for products to phone home. It's one thing if a piece of software is checking to see if an update is available and something else ...

Why would loss of *Internet* connectivity prevent *WiFi* con

Hello, This may not be a Sighthound related issue but I am hoping someone can help me understand the following. This AM I saw that all of the IP cameras being managed by Sighthound were offline (not accessible by Sighthound). I tried various things to try and get Sighthound to connect to the cameras...

Re: Garbled" video is causing spurious recordings

Hi Devin,

After more than a week with your suggestion I no longer have seen the "garbled video". One last question: would it make sense to run all the cams with this? I know that UDP is a lighter protocol than TCP but does it really have any effect with Sighthound?

Thank you.

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Hi Semper,

Thanks for the info on the remote AC switches - that looks useful!

And yes, as far as "Riley" goes, unfortunately I can remember that!

You mentioned sub-zero temps in an earlier post - hope you can stay warm this winter!

Thanks again for all your info & help.

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Hi Semper, I've never done much with USB except plug in a device with a "typical" (short) cable so thanks for all the details on how to extend their range. That can be useful. Your comments on your IP camera wee also interesting, especially about the WiFi freq. drift due to temperature cha...

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Hi Semper, Sorry for the delay in responding - I'm "back online" again! Thanks for the detailed description of your system. On my 1st scan or your post I was wondering why you had such a wide array of different cameras but from my detailed read I now understand. However, I am curious why a...

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Hi Semper, That was exactly it! Thanks for the answer. Since you are obviously very familiar with the system I'm curious about a couple of things. - What cameras are you using? Are any rated for outside use and are you happy with your choice? (I am using Samsung SmartCam HD Pros. At least for the on...

Re: How do you "apply" a new rule after the fact?

Hi Semper, WOW! Thank you VERY MUCH for taking the time to write up all of your "notes". This is an incredible wealth of helpful information. I wish I had seen this a week ago before I plunged into this. I agree with you that this is a very nice, well written piece of software (I am a prof...
