Hi jasong127,

Please make a new post in the Troubleshooting forum rather than replying to this thread about the beta and I'd be happy to help. Please let me know what camera/settings you're using, as well as clarifying what you mean by 'scrambled'. And did this start when you activated your paid version but not on the trial, or you didn't attempt the trial first? Thanks!

Hi everyone
I first of all I really want to congratulate all the staff at VitaminD. I bought the software (pro edition) about 1 year ago, and since then I've used it constantly every day with 5 ipcam outside. I made a long and accurate regulation of motion detection. After this adjustment, the motion detection has NEVER generated false alarms and is ALWAYS taken when he had to. I can assure you: I tried a lot surveillance programs (free and not free), I have tested in many conditions always trying to "cheat" (undermine motion detection) software but the results have always been excellent: I must admit that VitaminD is a great software! So really good!
At this point I just want to give you 2 simple (simple like technical realization) suggestions:
1_ give the possibility to have a time "X" (decided by the user) between two alarms (trig) in order to avoid receiving “200” mail and hear “200” overlapping of alarm sounds. I hope I was clear.
2_ create an anti darkening of the image (due, for example by placing a hand or a blanket in front of the cam)
Note: the motion detection detects the dimming only if it is set to 0-1 seconds or does not detect the dimming, and there is no way to do otherwise, I tried them all ... should therefore be programmed function that specifically independently of the rule set (area, time, etc.) if it sees a total change of the image, however, triggers an alarm.
Honestly, since we are talking of a program in terms of security the two points that I have expressed above, are the only things I can suggest to VitaminD. I think they are more important things, as I read some comments of users, compared, for example, the updating of the encoding resolution to keep up with modern ipcam.
I sincerely hope that at least one of these my proposals you take the seriously.
Thank you.
Mauro

Hi,

I downloaded the .txt file and put it into the appropriate folder. I tried opening and closing the app a couple of times, but I don't see any additional cameras.
I was especially looking for support of the Edimax camera.
Does the app update automatically, or is there a "check for updates" menu item somewhere?

N.b - I need to get VDV up and running (again) as I just got all the tyres slashed on both my cars....8 new tyres required, serious loss (and no idea why .... police say it's "random")

FYI, I'm running Windows8 - I hope it's supported?

Hi OCB,

Please make sure that the file is named exactly "updater.txt", and that it was in no way altered during the download. VDV checks for updates when launched, though there is a manual option in help->check for updates. When VDV is launched after the file is successfully placed you should see the window I attached in screenshot to this post.

With regard to Edimax, you can add them manually even without the beta release, the details are noted in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5 -

Edimax IC-3030POE
Protocol: http
Stream path: mjgpg/video.mjpg

There have been no issues with Windows 8.

Hope that helps,
- ryan

Just want to say thanks for this option - trying out Beta 3 per your suggestion from another thread.

Version under Help > About says: 1.4.3 build 6238

Hi Andy, it does still work. Please make sure you copied unaltered text file to the correct directory for your OS. If you're still having trouble feel free to send me a PM.

Is VitaminD being updated anymore? It's been two years, and there is very little discussion here. Is the developer still alive?

I am alive. I'm also working on the software right now (or was until I switched over to my browser).

This is primarily a support forum, so I take very little discussion to be a good thing. :-)
