Thanks for the help. Clearly, I misunderstood the original instructions.

Maybe the following tip would be useful to others that may want to try the beta version: In Mac OSX 10.7.3, I found that I needed to be in an administrator account for the update to install - being in a regular user account would not let the software update.

Hi Ryan
You mention Webserver in the Beta... Yipppeeeee.
I am looking forward to this addition and going to update to Pro for my 4 camera's.
That would make VDV a great package for the home user to monitor their property from off-site.

One request to add to this is I use Apache Reverse Proxy to access my LAN, and if the HTTP can be properly formed, it would save me a lot of heart-ache.

Regards

Hi kasper58,

I didn't mention anything about a webserver? Sorry.

Oops, my bad, was a response from another member.

A Webserver would IMHO be a great addition. Maybe the addition of API's will allow developmental of third party apps to handle that.

Thanks

Hi I was unable to find the path you suggested there is no appdata subfolder under my username. However in the programmes folder a vitamin D Video subfolder does exist.
I assume it is futile to put the updater in their?
thank you :?:

Hi goldie25,

You probably just need to enable the display of hidden folders, or you can use the address bar to enter the path manually. According to the internet (I'm not on a windows machine right now so can't verify, hope these are correct or close enough to help) go to the control panel, choose appearance/personalization, choose folder options, select the general tab, and then check "show all folders", select the view tab and check "show hidden folders".

That will hopefully make the AppData folder visible in explorer if it was not before.

Okay Ryan,
I just bought your $200 Pro Version not only 10 minutes ago. I think that entitles me to at least having ONE of my forum posts published. (I think it's ridiculous they ALL have to be "approved" first.)

I put my money where my mouth is. I've given you $200 and I'm supporting you. Now please, for gods' sake ENABLE AUDIO recording! Also I don't think it's too much to expect a webserver component where I can use an external computer/webcam combo to output a video stream (and audio!) to my main unit running Vitamin D as a head unit to record all.

Thanks for listening (to a NEW paying customer).

Hi armyturtle,

Sorry for the post approval process. We started getting hit with a massive influx of spam a month ago, much to my and other users dismay. The easiest way to stem this was to force moderator approval of at least one post. Once you've had one post approved, all future posts automatically go through. I promise it is only to differentiate "fake" new users from "real", not to filter what gets posted from real users. And it's hopefully only temporary until I can get something effective in place. Trust me, manually filtering out 5-30 fake users a day is not something I want to be doing. :-)

PLEASE HELP! I'm running on a Macbook Pro with 16bg of RAM. Even if I keep the resolution at the very lowest setting, the video is so scrambled that it's useless.

I purchased this software based on the reviews, even downloaded the beta version. So far, I feel like I just threw my money down the toilet on a software that can't be used.
