Everyone;

4.x isn't working very well. After downgrading back to 3.0.2 everything is back to working. I recommend NOT upgrading to 4.1 until several of these bugs have clearly been fixed.

Upgraded to 4.0 - Clips no longer play in browser

by kokenge » Fri Jan 20, 2017 2:03 pm

I have the same issue with all my Win7 deployments.

1) The video is there, but I believe it’s a Win7 codec issue. If I right click the video and save to desktop, I still cannot view it, but I can use a different video player app and view it. Native Win7 Media Player will not play the new MP4’s.

FIXED:: Upgraded to 4.0 - Clips no longer play in browser

by kokenge » Fri Jan 20, 2017 6:32 pm

Yes, it was/is a codec issue. If you install the standard version of this (see attached as well): http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage

And configure the 32-bit H.264 (or just pick set all to shark whatever) your win7 browser will operate with clips again.

I think SH still need to patch.

cheers,

I can confirm that I am not getting remote playback with version 4.0.1 while trying to view remotely using Chrome nor IE on a Windows 7 machine. I am able to get playback on Windows 10.

EDIT: Chrome Developer Tools shows these errors on load (Last 3 lines only):
Code: Select all
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
http://cams.sumwalt.net/remote/Front%20Yard1486499463849.jpg Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)
http://cams.sumwalt.net/remote/Livingroom%20Side1486499458265.jpg Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

And this on an attempted playback:
Code: Select all
clips.html:1 Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: The play() request was interrupted by a call to pause().

This is at the very top:
Code: Select all
Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help, check https://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/.

4.0.2 did not specifically address any browser issues, release notes can be found at https://www.sighthound.com/support/release-notes

We are aware of this post and would very much like to and plan to solve any trouble you are experiencing, but we can only tackle so many issues at once. There are an infinite number of improvements and additions that we would like to make to the application, many revolving around remote access, and we hope that you'll enjoy the updates to come.

In the meantime, please make sure that you have the latest flash player installed, and if that does not solve the trouble for you on Win7 with the browser of your choice, Chrome should serve as a workaround.

This option worked for most users we've talked to:

Yes, it was/is a codec issue. If you install the standard version of this (see attached as well): http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Setup-and-usage

And configure the 32-bit H.264 (or just pick set all to shark whatever) your win7 browser will operate with clips again.

I just reconfirmed and am at 2 for 2 systems. That "work around" is not working for me.

Just a note on Chrome with Windows 7. I also get just the black screen when trying to play clips. On my system it works correctly if I disable Hardware acceleration in Chrome (Settings->Show Advanced Settings->System). Unfortunately, this causes several other pages I use to stop working, so this is not a fix for me.
