Re: HOWTO: Utilize a valid, signed SSL cert in Sighthound 3.

In that case, try creating the sv.sha file manually. The only thing in that file should be a single line with the hash you see in fingerprint.out.

Here is what mine looks like:

Re: HOWTO: Utilize a valid, signed SSL cert in Sighthound 3.

I put "XX" in the fields for country, etc where you'll probably want to substitute your own values. The fingerprint.out is deleted in the last step as it's only there for temporary use to capture the SHA hash. If you copy/paste the code exactly as it appears in my post you should wind up w...

Request: Add separate motion start/stop alerts

Sighthound has a unique value proposition for home automation. Existing motion sensors are not very good at discriminating between people and pets, something with SH does a pretty good job of. The ability to execute commands in response to motion is super helpful, as this allows me to reach into my ...

Re: HOWTO: Utilize a valid, signed SSL cert in Sighthound 3.

Yup, you can get SSL cert for an IP address. It's not often done because it doesn't allow you to change IPs (obviously), but it's still perfectly valid.

Re: Remote Access SSL support

If you have a custom certificate you would like to use on the machine you could do so, though you'd need to locate and replace the certificate manually as there is not a user interface for this currently. For anyone still following this thread, I've posted a guide to setting up valid SSL certs in S...

Re: Sighthound 3.0

I did a simple upgrade from 2.5.1 to 3.0 on Windows Server 2012R2 and everything went smooth, no problems at all. New version looks great so far, the HTTPS support is a big deal for me. Thanks guys!

HOWTO: Utilize a valid, signed SSL cert in Sighthound 3.0

One major improvement with Sighthound 3.0 is that the web interface is FINALLY secured by default using HTTPS. For a security product, this is a great (and necessary) feature. However, the default behavior generates a self-signed certificate with a randomly-generated name. This makes it difficult to...

Re: https support for remote access

I wanted to say I'm glad to see SSL support enabled in 3.0! Some digging through the log files gave me a sense of how this was being generated, and with a little hacking I've managed to insert a free cert from StartSSL into Sighthound's web services. At this point I have a valid, secured web interfa...

Use Sighthound as a SmartThings motion sensor

The new SmartThings security application is called Smart Home Monitor, which allows you to respond to events from various security-related devices in your home, including capturing streams from a limited selection of IP cameras. SHM is a little rough around the edges but it does a pretty good job fo...
