Well, I have done everything suggested and a few more.
The disk activity builds up and becomes continuous as long as the program is running and all comments I have made before!
I do believe that hibernation is working and the message against the Task to wake up which reported 'never run' or 'not started' was a red herring of some sort. Still not certain beyond doubt.
I guess none of this will help anybody else except not to believe all you see, they may be red herrings.
