I paid $200 for the unlimited version.
I have 7 Foscam cameras, 3 rules each (1 for 24x7 PC recording, 2 rules for emails: 1 for middle of the night alerts, 1 for daytime emails while I am at work).
The system has been running smoothly with no issues for over 2 years.
No other package has the ease and simplicity to setup rules and areas for recording and alerts.
I figure I have about $1100 in this wireless system, way less than a wired system and just as robust.

Please make a more affordable package for 4 camera systems (and please add support for network enabled DVR's) I really want to use it with my nightowl camera system, (currently use it with a webcam and it works great, far fewer false positives, especially since it can look past sensor noise, so it really only get false positives from shadows from tree branches moving, and light from car headlights hitting objects in the scene.

Much better than the nightowl DVR where the needed sensitivity level for detecting a person at the edge of the yard, also causes false positives from the high ISO noise.

Hi Razor,

VDV should work with networked DVR systems as long as they expose the video streams. If they do not, there is unfortunately no way for us to support them. I couldn't find anything for nightowl, though you might try emailing them directly. A description of the needed information can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4

I want to have 3 cameras. $? an additional camera would be great. I am not going to shell out $190 for one more camera when I paid $60 for two.

So I am running SH without updates because I can then also run the original Vitamin D side by side. Obviously not my preferred option. I found that upgrading SH disabled VD. So i never apply updates.

Hi valamas,

Upgrading Sighthound Video does not disable Vitamin D Video, I'm not sure exactly what behavior you're seeing. Perhaps you are referring to behavior after running the Sighthound Video importer, which is intended to migrate data from Vitamin D Video? That is a one way process, as noted in the installer (necessary, the vast majority of systems would not have enough space to duplicate all data, nor would they want to). Updates to Sighthound Video in no way touch Vitamin D Video or its data.

I would *highly* advise against running Vitamin D Video and Sighthound Video side by side on the same machine. Sighthound Video *is* Vitamin D Video 2.0 - as such the majority of the code is the same. Running both on the same machine is quite likely to result in unexpected behavior and/or data loss at some point. At the very least, if you are going to do this, I would encourage you to run one as a different user, or even better, in a virtual machine.

Once I upgraded SH; SH would crash when VD is run. Tried this again. Again, uninstall SH and use the original SH installer I saved locally.

Original SH with original VD, have no problems. Not my preference as mentioned by the pricing question I and others have posted without any response other than to address technical.

Hi valamas,

I'm unsure offhand what would be different between newer versions of Sighthound Video when running with Vitamin D Video. All I can say is that I generally would not expect this to run problem free regardless of version - when we first released Sighthound Video there were a few bug reports from people who had forgotten to close Vitamin D Video resulting in a few collisions and odd errors. It certainly isn't the case that we did anything in a recent update, or ever for that matter, to disable your parallel running scenario.

Our priority is to respond to respond to any troubles our users have with the software, which is why you've seen responses to any technical issues mentioned. Otherwise, you have revived a year old thread which includes some users hoping for lower pricing and some users responding that they though the pricing was a good deal as is. Of that, I'm not sure what specifically you'd like me to address. I did read your post, and I recognize that our current pricing scheme may not fit every user's scenario. It is something we will perpetually continue to examine, and attempt to satisfy as large a target as possible. We do our best to make software that people enjoy using, and to support our users as best we can. These are both items that we can deliver to all users, and I believe we do well. Pricing, unfortunately, is a difficult topic in which it is impossible to make everyone happy.
