I HATE anything that has a 3rd party or "cloud" dependency. That seems to be the case with this.

I would encourage you all to use actions that run a custom script, and then just email yourself using a command line tool, there are lots.

If your ISP doesn't allow you to send mail directly (as does Comcast) then you must push mail through your own relay to an email account you own and can login to, so for example mail flow might look like:
Sighthound > script > command-line emailer > hMailServer > authenticated to your gmail account > message sent to your inbox.

For links to the (free) software you need to set this up, see:

hi JPElectron

thanks for the tip. If find it a little concering that I reported the fault and talked to support and still no fix for the push alerts not working/sending. I'm sure they are busy trying to fix it but I cannot find an update from support on this forum!

I am very concerned over this. I've been without this essential feature for more than 3 days now.

"We have replicated the issue" response from support is what we in the communication business refers to as an "holding statement", meant to buy time and give the impression (true or not) that all hands are on deck and working the problem.

I am forced to believe that Sighthound is not taking the customers seriously at all.

There is no excuse for this delay.

I chose Sighthound because Im on a Mac. I should buy a PC.

OT: every animal, every bug etc. is seen as people. I suspect your so-called "algorithms" only look for "something moving like feet kinda"

Fix the push issue today!

In the short term you can send an Instant Push alert via email address with Pushover. ( @pomail.net)

https://pushover.net/faq#email

you can get a free 7 days trial.

all you do is add the email address on to your exitsting sighthound email alert list seprated by a comma (,) and when the alert is triggered you get your email and an instant push alert from pushover. this stops you having to go via IFTTT as a trigger.

the great thing about this is you can have custom sounds for each alert, been asking for that for 2 years!

"Pushover includes an e-mail gateway feature that allows you to send e-mails to a custom Pushover e-mail address and have them be converted into Pushover notifications"

hope this helps some users in the short term.

Still not working.

Please communicate clearly with your customers if essential features are not working - there is nothing on Sighthound's facebook, twitter or website about the problem as of now - and it's been ongoing for 2-3 days now.

People heavily rely on this feature to work as it's the main way to get notices about intrusions.

Please give an official public message about it and what the ETA is. And afterwards - tell us what you have done to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks.

That feeling when the company you supported with your money doesn't care.

"We have replicated the issue" - translation: "We do not work weekends"

How much does this suck...I sell their software to my customers. And when my customers who depend on this feature to work, I can't give then an accurate answer. There is no feedback from these guys and I'm pretty sure they haven't worked on it all weekend. Unacceptable. Does anyone else have another option.

Sight hound still has issues that needs to be address. Like false identity animals as people. And sometimes shadows. The delay on notifications is too long. Can't send alerts locally. Android live view is horrid. Have to open ports to get remote access instead of using something secure like p2p. And the pricing model isn't friendly either. Most systems have 4 cameras so you either get a 2 camera licences or pay more than double for unlimited.

There has to be a better option out there

Yeah, I have "sold" this software now to three clients and it has caused a bit of regret on this end to find out that this company is really not very active with this product which sucks because it's a great product.
