Thanks Devin have sent you a log and directed it back to this thread. Just to confirm it is still disconnecting on the rolled back software (reolved by a end task of all occurences in task manager but still working fine in Foscams own software.

+1,
I have just joined to post the same issues.
I am using this software on windows 7 and after a few days everything stops working (i.e. motion detection, email notification, cameras can't connect).
I am still evaluating the software (well my 2 week trial has just expired) but I can't get myself to pay $250 for a product that just works for a few days and then needs to be rebooted.
I already own a Synology Server running Surveillance Station with multiple Hikvision IP cameras stable for months at a time.
In fact it probably would run forever if I did not have to shutdown the server to relocate to a different location.
Sighthound does a much better job on motion detection so I really would like to use it but it has to be stable.
Is there a specific reason why Sighthound can't run on lets say a Linux system?
I would be willing to build a dedicated Linux System to run Sighthound beefy enough to support all my ip cameras.

Cheers,
- Michael

Hi Devin.

I have noticed the same type of problem. I'm on the 14 day trial. I bought a new dell tower (Intel (R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU, 3.0ghz processor, 4 gb ram, 250GB hard-drive, running Windows 7 premium edition) to devote to handling the video downloads.

I have one Samsung Smart Camera hooked up to it. Looking at one of the posts in the forums I found a way to set up the camera. Everything is running fine, except the last 2 days (July 1st and 2nd) I have noticed a dropped connection....I have had to restart the program, or restart my computer to get the camera to come back on line. Considering buying the basic version....but want to make sure that the program is reliable.

Should I send a "report a problem" as well if I notice it happens again?

I really like your program....it has a lot of smart features about it (really like that it can tell the difference between people, pets, and other objects). Just want to make sure it stays online.

Also like that is can send email with a picture. Is it normal for the email to have a delay? I set it for 1 second to send to my yahoo account....but sometimes it can take several minutes for it to show up in there.

Hi harmer007,

I'd be happy to take a look at your logs for anything unusual if you'd like to send us a bug report. Unfortunately email can have a delay. Sighthound does send out the email as soon as the event occurs, but not all email providers are reliably fast. If you are using an email fetching software I'd recommend checking the settings to see how frequently it is fetching your emails.

If you have a smart phone I'd recommend trying out our mobile apps which have a mobile notification feature (https://www.sighthound.com/support/mobi ... id-and-ios). Mobile notifications are typically received much sooner than emails and the app allows you to view the clip directly on your phone.

Regards,

-Devin

Hi Devin. Thanks for the response. Yes, I have the mobile app sending email notifications to phone.

Just checking it on the feed and it did again (dropped connection from feed). I will send you a bug report.

Thanks for looking into it. P.S....I forgot to add in the bug report... I don't have the computer in sleep mode, hibernation, or anything like that.....I just turn my monitor off and keep the program running.

I am having the same problems on Windows 8.1 with 2 Foscam FI9821W V2.1. I will see the "cannot connect" message in the sighthound windows application however the foscam web app at the camera's ip works fine so I know it is not the camera or network. If I close the sighthound application, I cannot bring it back up again without going into windows task manager and killing all sighthound processes. Once I do that and restart the application, everything appears normal until it happens again. I submitted a bug report but also registered so I could post here and report, "me too."

@jasongordon... if you Turn OFF all cameras before you close the Sighthound application you will not have to use Task Manager to kill the sub processes. (This is by design, so that the user interface can be terminated, but the sub processes continue to record video and apply the rules.)

Thanks, I will try that next time. But this still does not solve the issue as to why the video stops recording. I shouldn't have to monitor the application to make sure it is recording and processing video.
