Random Blur

by tigerdan » Mon Apr 07, 2014 9:20 am

Hello,

I am running one Dahua IPC-HDW2100 with SightHound. The picture quality is great but I am experiencing a random blur at the bottom of the screen. Sighthound picks this up as movement and records it so I have quadrupled my recordings. Also my concern is if something were to happen in this area there is a potential for it to be blurred out. Below are screens of the blur and also my cam settings. Any insights would be appreciated.

Hi tigerdan,

This is a result of packet loss over UDP, an unreliable transport. Assuming that your camera supports TCP you can attempt to force a tcp connection by appending "svforcetcp" to the query string of the URL. As your url already has a query string, you would simply change it from
Code: Select all
cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0

to
Code: Select all
cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&svforcetcp

Ryan,

I added svforcetcp and reconnected to the cam. Picture seems to be holding steady with no blur. I will keep an eye on it but I think this fixed it. I can't thank you enough!!

Hi wanab,

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. The camera configuration can be redisplayed by selecting a camera and selecting "Tools->Edit Camera".

I think he is seeing the "Code: Select All" text at the top of the two images of what to change from/to. I think that is just an artifact of your copy function to create the images to display and have nothing to do with what is to be changed.

@ Wanab: Change the "Stream Path" text in the Camera Setup dialog box from what is shown in the first example to what is shown in the second one.

What if the URL doesn't currently have a query string? I have the Logitech Alert 750 camera's and 1 of the 2 is blurring like the original post. I believe that the Logitech camera's use TCP and not UDP, any other ideas on how to resolve?

If the camera doesn't have a query string you can begin one by addding "?svforcetcp" without the quotes.

I'm seeing the blurring as well, mostly at night. I'm trying to apply the "?svforcetcp", but when I click on a camera and the Edit camera, I'm dumped into the wizard each time. No Stream path box.

I'm using two Hikvision DS-2CD2032 bullet cameras at 10fps at 2048x1536 resolution. Storage is not a concern as I'm trapping saved clips (and I'm very, very selective about the rules for saving) to a Synology NAS that only is for security camera and Time Machine backup storage.

Continue through the wizard until you reach the screen where you select the camera model and add username/password details. There you can select "Other IP camera" if you haven't already and the stream path box will be visible.
