I upgraded to Sighthound Video Pro on my Mac (Lion),and installed iOS app on my iPad.

On your mac, select "Sighthound Video" in the menu bar and choose "Preferences". You can then click the "Remote Access" tab. For full details see http://www.sighthound.com/support/how-e ... ote-access

oops...Preferences was greyed out ,had to reboot app to see it .

I have port forwarding already set up on my Linksys router on port 1024,to a fixed IP address, is this what I enter under remote access port ?

Presumably you have port forwarding set up for some other service on your router, and would want/need to select a new port and make a new entry for Sighthound Video.

If you select "9000" as the remote access port in Sighthound Video it will be accessible on the local network at sighthound_machine_ip:9000

If you wish to access from outside your network, you would need to set up port forwarding for an external port (it can be the same or different) to route to sighthound_machine_local_ip at port 9000. You could then access from outside your network at public_ip:9000.

For over a year, I configured my router to forward my aircam IP, to view cams using IVideon server on my phone, ipad

I made it a static number 192.168.1.xxxx -through port 1024,

I assume this is I have to enter on preferences?

You would need to create a new port forwarding setup as I mentioned in my previous port, this is unrelated to your cameras or anything you may have set up previously.

For example, if your Sighthound Video computer is 192.168.1.100 and you configured remote access in Sighthound Video to run on port 9000, you would want to forward port 9000 in your router to 192.168.1.100:9000.

If your public ip (which you can find by visiting a site like whatsmyip.org) was 1.2.3.4, you'd then be able to access Sighthound Video from outside your house by visiting 1.2.3.4:9000

I’m able to connect to web server page, using user/passwd when click on LOCAL address, but I’m unable to connect on iPad app, using ip, from whatsmyip.org, to local/internal numbers

What am I missing?

I'm happy to improve the documentation anywhere it is lacking.

I'm afraid I'm not sure exactly what steps you've taken, or where the trouble is occurring. It sounds like one a few different things -

1) External access is not set up correctly
2) You are encountering trouble with the iOS app

The fact that you can connect on the machine running Sighthound Video on the local machine indicates that remote access is successfully running. Have you tried connecting from another machine on the internal network using the "Internal address"? This is likely a 192.168.X.X IP address. You can try this from any machine on the local network, or from the browser on any of your mobile devices (to eliminate any specific issues with the iOS app itself).

If that *does* work from another device on the internal network, your machine is not blocking incoming requests, and you should be able to connect from the iOS app itself when it is on the internal network. If you are having problems there there are two likely issues:

1) You are adding an "http://" prefix in the login (future versions of the iOS app will allow this)
2) You have a space or @ character in your username or password (future versions of the iOS app will not have trouble with this)

correction: I get "logging in" when input internal IP ..

but then nothing, should it go to another page ?

I am able to connect from a PC & Mac on same home network, but not to iPad, under IP keeps getting errors

If I enter external address, get “error connecting to server” using local address, internal address ‘

When click external address “attempting to connect “it opens a browser “how to enable remote”
