Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

Done. It works as desired. I'm going out of town for the weekend but I'll upload a video of it sometime next week.

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

And just to show that you don't have to do everything in Sighthound, here's a solution I've already come up with. I'll implement it in a few weeks, test it, and record a video so you can all use it as well. It utilizes a different piece of free software, it's a bit rudimentary, but it works a whole ...

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

I see your point, but it really doesn't move me. The fact is Sighthound is just a piece of software for a simple home security system. If you're trying to use this as an enterprise level system and you don't have backups and fixes for your loopholes then that's your own issue to deal with. I'm just ...

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

Understandable. When I say, "the community builds"....I don't mean for hire. This is something people would have to volunteer for, because I know Sighthound doesn't have something like this slated in their budget, but it's definitely something that's needed. An open source platform, whethe...

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

I encourage you to do a little more research. While IFTTT does have the 15 minute rule, which is horrible for any kind of security appliance, I've found that Texting and PushBullet get almost immediate results. I personally use pushbullet with most of my other security software for this very reason....

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

I don't think I even realized that there was a remove web interface for sighthound, I think I thought it was just the app. I'll definitely have a look at that. As for there not being the platform available for sighthound to remotely deactivate certain rules, I understand the Sighthound team has a lo...

Re: Too Resource Intensive

I'm afraid this is not a viable solution. Reducing my resolution makes the video quality incredibly grainy and any identification of potential intruders worthless. If I do that, then what's the point in even having Sighthound to begin with? What I've resulted to is fully and completely killing sight...

Re: Remote Arm/Disarm

All I'm asking for is an option to control the rules themselves remotely. I can turn the cameras on and off, but I have no power at all to control the rules themselves remotely. As far as how IFTTT operates and the software's interaction itself with IFTTT, I think that's hogwash, and here's why. IFT...

Too Resource Intensive

I've got sighthound setup on a Windows 7 64bit box (here's my system stats as well), with five cameras on it with low resolution and frame rates. My computer goes down to a crawl. With a little investigation, sighthound is using between 70 and 100% of my CPU and RAM. I need some solutions here. I sp...
