im not sure about ipad but you can do it in site hound video.
open rule editor> if seen the bottom icon> take action tab>play sound>bell>custom
this will let you load your own sound

go to camera setting and find the ip address to the camera and put it in your browser, if page not found then you cant connect, sounds like you need to find the ip address go to sithound edit camera and put in the correct ip address to connect or use that ip to test in your browser. some times power...

i think you can do both at the same time, upload to ftp which you all ready know the link and a email alert to let you know to go and check your ftp for new videos,

the software can only see good as the camera , so you might get a better night vision camera or do camera adjustments, you would need to upload the video or its going to be a million question guessing game, is it really the web or the light flickering from the video, cant tell you post no video with...
