Cannot connect to camera

by bigdave17 » Fri Mar 22, 2013 11:29 am

Hi,
I have never been able to get Vitamin D to connect to my Eyespy 247 ip cam. My current router does not support Nat Loopback, and maybe this is why, so I cannot access the camera via the 192.168.x.x address. Is there any way I can get around this issue?

Can you access the camera via your Browser?

Because my router does not support nat loopback, I can only see the camera in my browser from the Eyespy setup page; 192.168.x.x. I cannot view it using my external ip address of 151.xxx.x.x, except from outside of my LAN, e.g., on a smartphone.

I tried inputting my LAN ip of 192.168.x.x into Vitamin D, together with the camera username and camera password but it still does not connect.

Hiya Dave,

If you can access the camera from an IP in the browser that same IP should work within VDV. That being said, I am not overly familiar with the eyespy cameras, or any setup/configuration changes you have done to make it accessible outside your network. One quick suggestion I'm sure you've already played with - have you tried both the MJPEG and MPEG eyespy settings in VDV? You'll need to use the one corresponding to the video type you have configured your camera to export.

Another thing to try: If you're using one of the default eyespy configurations in VDV, it will be equivalent to opening the following address in another media player such as quicktime or VLC - http://username:[email protected]/img/video.asf

If this does not work for you I would consider checking any settings you may have changed, or resetting your camera to default factory state and trying again.
