Lorex LNC104 'Live Ping'

by rsl » Fri Mar 08, 2013 5:22 pm

I have this camera that I want to hook up. The settings or the software that comes with it makes it easy to establish the IP address, which is DHCP, the MAC address, the wireless MAC address, the subnet mask the default gateway, the DNS server, but for the life of me I can't find the video stream URL for it. Any ideas? I've tried google.

I had trouble finding anyone streaming from this camera to anything other than the bundled software. Best I could find is someone claming that "rtsp://ipaddress:554" might work. In the VDV camera configuration this would be protocol: rtsp, blank port (default is 554), a blank stream path, and your username and password fields completed. If that doesn't work you might try shooting the manufacturer an email asking if there is an http or rtsp URL to access the video stream from third party software. There wasn't anything in the camera's manual, but sometimes this information exists, just not in docs not posted on the normal public website.

Did anyone get the LNC104 going?

I have this camera and can telnet to port 554. Blank url doesn't work. I also tried video.mp4.

Is there some other magic way to discover rtsp URLs manually?

This is kind of a ridiculous camera, but I got it going. There are two passwords for this system. One is the admin/web user password. The other is the video password, it's on the video settings screen labeled "Password(play video)". The Cam ID is listed in a few places in addition to the video settings screen--it's a 9-digit number with dashes: aaa-bbb-ccc

With that info, use this URL:

rtsp://ipaddress/aaabbbccc.videopassword

It's on standard port 554. Remove the dashes from your camera id, put in the video password, and you're done.

Hello, I have two of these camera's, and I'd like to try them with something other than the bundled software. I can't figure out how to make the previous instructions work in Sighthound or a generic linux rsp interface. If anyone has this working and can give a little more detail to a Sighthound newbie I would appreciate it.
