Problem connection to my ip cam

by martyouel » Sun Jul 15, 2012 7:55 am

Hi,

i'm currently evaluating the software by using the startup edition.

I installed it on my laptop to do my first tests. All worked great and I was easily be able to connect to my ip cam (TrendNet ip312w).

Then, I decided to install it on my windows 2008 server to be able to run it 24h a day...but, on this computer, I'm not able to connect to my cam.
I always get "unable to connect".
If i try to open the cam on a browser, it works great.

I activated the uPnp configuration in the cam and vitamin d correctly detect it... but always not able to connect to the cam via VitaminD.

I don't know if this can help but my server is connected to the network by using an ethernet cable and my laptop is using the same network configuration than the cam, a wifi connection.

I'm using port 8085 to connect to my cam.
I'm also able to connect to it from the outside.

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi martyouel,

What is your username on your windows 2008 machine? Does it contain any unicode characters (accented characters for instance)? In some cases when a username contains certain unicode characters VDV is unable to create some necessary files and the behavior you're seeing can result.

Hope that helps,
- ryan

Is your user running as an administrator, or a restricted account? Are you running any particular firewall or antivirus software? If so please make sure Vitamin D has been added as an allowed program. You can submit a bug report from "Help -> Report a Problem..." that will send us some logs that might help diagnose the problem.

Hi Ryan,

here more details

Yes, i'm running as an administrator.
I already sent a report to your support team but they told me to try to deactivate the firewall and antivirus and told me that they can't help me anymore as i'm just using a starter edition.
In fact, I plan to buy the basic edition, but if it don't work on windows 2008 it's bad...

I use the built-in windows firewall and added a rules for Vitamin D software...and I use Microsoft Security Essentials as antivirus.

So, by deactivate both software, antivirus and firewall, i'm still not able to use VitaminD...the software can't connect to my cam.

For now, as a temporary solution, i'm running VitaminD under a windows xp virtual machine on this server...and it work great...but I don't want to keep this solution for a long term...

Thanks for your time.

Martin

We have a number of users running on Windows 2008, so it certainly should be working. If you'd like to send me a private message and let me know the email address you used to submit the bug report I'll look it up in our system.

Are you sure its not because your router doesn't support nat loopback? I am having the same issue and I think that's why
