Automatic deletion of all videos

by dbowman2001 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 6:03 am

I know this has been discussed before, but one thing it's been overlooked is the necessity of automatically delete ALL videos after a certain period of retention.
Some legislations force you not to store security cameras video for more than, say, 24 hours.
In order to comply with this I should manually delete videos every day: any solution other than an optional preference to remove videos after a specified time is not acceptable under these terms.
Is there any chance to see this feature implemented?

Thanks

Hi dbowman2001,

You can do this now. Simply make sure that none of your rules have "Save" as a response (either to "My computer" or to "My ftp server"). This will ensure that all video stays as temporary cache. Then in the application preferences set the "Temporarilly keep all video for up to X days" to 1. This will delete all video 24 hours after it is recorded. If before 24 hours has expired you find a clip with one of your rules in the search view you wish to keep you can select "Tools -> Export Clip..." from the menu.

Hope that helps,

Thank you very much. The preference to delete the videos was on but actually the trick was to remove the SAVE option from the rule, which I thought was necessary. I'll test this option
