API or at least data for scripting

by dylanparker » Wed Feb 06, 2013 6:21 pm

A full-blown API would be great, but as the last mentions of that were back in 2010 I'm not holding my breath.

I have my system running a script when triggered that notifies me using Growl/Prowl and I get a notification on my iPhone.
Ideally, I'd like to send along a still image (like the email does) so I can quickly assess why the action occurred.

My plan at the moment is to query the objectsDB and clipsDB with sqlite3 and then extract an appropriate still image from the mp4 using ffmpeg.
This is tedious though, and prone to breaking after a db schema change.

Making some information available for scripts via environment variables would be great. Things like:
- Camera Name
- Event duration
- mp4 file location of event
- begin/end timestamps

Thanks.
