VitaminD Process Monitoring

by Nico » Fri Jun 29, 2012 12:56 pm

Hi,

A couple weeks ago we had an issue where VitaminD closed and stopped recording. It took a couple of days to figure this out because we don't have a way of knowing when VitaminD has stopped working.

Aside from logging on to the server every day (or every hour), is there a way to get it so that if VitaminD closes down it will come back up?

If that isn't possible, is there a way to monitor it with a program such as PRTG (http://www.paessler.com/prtg) to be able to know when it is down? That way I can come in remotely and bring it back up.

Thanks!

Hi Nico,

VDV should never stop working, there is a great deal of logic within the program to safely restart even after catastrophic failures. Did a user close the app? Or was the machine restarted? If it was a restart you might want to check out viewtopic.php?f=2&t=804 where a user configured VDV to run as a service. If you think the app crashed please choose "Report a problem" from the help menu. This will send us logs that can help us understand what happened and hopefully solve any problems y ou may be having.

Thanks,
- ryan
