Starting VitaminD Agent at startup on MacOs

by jeanf » Fri Nov 05, 2010 5:29 pm

Hi,

There is a post where you explain how to start it on Windows *before login in*, could you explain the same procedure for MacOS-X ?
Trying to start the "Vitamin D Agent" with the --BackEnd option gives an error message like "usage : Vitamin D Agent [option] ... [-c cmd ...".

Thanks,

jean-francois

Hi Jean-Francois,

If you'd like VDV to start up automatically, please try the steps mentioned here in the ref guide:
http://vitamindinc.com/support/ref_guide_tips_06.html

Hope that helps!

Hi Ryan,

The reference guide explains only how to start the application when a user log into macos, not how to do it when the machine starts.
I would like to let it running on a mac mini I will dedicate mainly to this task, so if the machine reboots, they won't be any user to log in and start the application.

Any chance to get the same kind of procedure as described for Windows ? (starting the the agent from the CLI) ?

thanks,

jean-francois

Hi Jean-Francois,

Those instructions will launch Vitamin D automatically when you log in. If you set up your account to automatically log in, this will ensure vitamin d boots when your machine does. If you don't want your machine to remain logged in it should be possible to use automator or command line script to return to the login screen on boot as well.
