Takes very long to connect to Wansview rtsp camera

by georgfly » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:07 am

Hi I am new here,
I am using a couple Wansview megapixel IP cameras, and I can successfully connect to the cameras' h.264 rtsp stream. However, it can take 1-2 minutes until Vitamin D manages to connect (I run Windows 7 64bit, Firewall is down during testing), and sometimes I cannot connect at all (is there some timeout, or will Vitamin D keep trying to connect?). Network speed shouldnt be limiting, since other software (VLC, iSpy) connects without problem.
Any suggestions? Or is it expected to take that long?
Thanks
Georg

Hi Georgfly,

What resolution is your camera streaming at/what resolution are you recording at in VDV? VDV does a bit of buffering and processing before the stream will begin, if you are streaming at a much larger resolution than necessary this can cause a bit of extra delay.
