IP Cam FOSCAM FI9820

by OO_MPE » Sun Jan 20, 2013 3:17 pm

Just registered to this forum ....

I do have a working Foscam FI9820 IP Cam on my LAN and remotely accessible thru the internet on my MacBook Air.
As FOSCAM application does not support all features for Mac users, as they do have for PC users, I am looking to alternatives.
Vit D seems to be the product I am looking for.
So far I cannot set-up FOSCAM 9820 : video does not show up ...although when clicking 'view from your browser' is working : http//WANipaddress:2000/ I do see the video.
I believe, not sure, I am struggling with the cgi stuff (do not what it does ..)....videostream.cgi ?
Someone with some experiennce with vitD and FI9820 ?

Thanks for HINTS !

P.S. e-mail testing is successful

Please make sure that you have a username and password filled in.

With http as the protocol please try the following stream paths:
video.cgi
videostream.asf
iphone/11

If those don't work, with rtsp as the protocol please try the streampath:
11

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your prompt answer !
Tried your suggestions : some progress, but no video yet :|

1) with http as protocol and the proposed videostream strings no success.
2) with rtps : seems that I miss a 'codec' or 'plug-in' or 'real time player sp issue'

I do have Snow Leopard version 10.6.8 and RT player version Version 12.0.1 (1750)-free and got following error message:
RealPlayer cannot play this media file with the installed version of QuickTime. (error -2048)
I suspect a compatibility problem with RT player ...Any ideas ??

Enjoy your day.

Hi,

I'm afraid I don't understand the error messages you are seeing. You enter the rtsp information into VDV, click next, and then see these messages? What program is displaying these error messages? VDV is entirely self contained with regard to video streaming/decoding, so it sounds like either your real player installation is hijacking/interfering with VDV, or that you are instead trying to access the rtsp url inside real player rather than VDV?

Hi Ryan,

Indeed, the error message I provided was generated by RP when trying the rtsp url inside real player rather than VDV. In the meantime ....

Good news ...Foscam FI9820 works with vitD using the IP address of the cam within my LAN.

Protocol : rtsp and videostream : 11

What still does not work :

Same protocol and string, but using the IP address for accessing my cam from the internet does not work :

when I use 192.168.X.X (IP range of my local connected devides) VitD sees the video, but when I use my "outside" IP address (92.224.X.X) I cannot connect.

Port forwarding in my router is checked and set : I use port 2000 for Http and 3000 for rtsp...

What do I overlook to have remote access ...?

P.S. I use a FOSCAM H.264 type and notice that video is blubbering although with the FOSCAM app the video crystal clear ... did I overlook video settings ...?

The default rtsp port is 554 while it appears you are trying to use 3000 from outside access. Please make sure that you have your router forwarding 3000 to the correct port for your camera, and that in your remote VDV you've set the port to 3000 on configuration.
