Generic "Netwave IP Camera" HTTP/CGI commands

by catwatcher » Mon Jan 16, 2012 4:38 pm

While poking around on the inter-tubes, I found two things:
  • The Loftek 2200 that I have (a Foscam clone) announces that it is a "Netwave IP Camera" in its HTTP headers. Apparently, a lot of the cheap/no-name/pirate/Chinese IP cameras have this same signature.
  • Further searching turned up this document - IPCAM CGI SDK 2.1: http://www.notesco.net/download/ipcamcgisdk21.pdf (one of many copies). It lists the "CGI" commands understood by these cameras and what the responses mean. Obviously, there will be differences - there were plenty of requests for "is this the latest version?", etc.
If you want to poke around your camera, this is a handy starting place. Of course, if you just want the software that does what you need, you probably don't care too much.

I'm very happy with the Vitamin D software. It's just what my wife wanted to let her spy on our cats' toilet training progress (or lack thereof). Any time a cat goes poop, Howard Dean screams!
