vitamin d Agent process deleting video files on it's - Why??

by boiko » Sun Dec 25, 2011 12:50 am

So far I do like vitamin d, but I've been having one problem that is driving me crazy... Almost each day now the vitamin d Agent process deletes all previous video files..all on it's own.

This is the free version, so we are talking about low resolution video clips here. I have 110GB free on my C drive and I've allocated 65GB for clips and temp video. I have it set to keep video for 7 days. I do not move/copy or delete video clips/files located in their folder. I installed a small program that monitors file deletion on my system, you can see the output below - this is obviously only a short sample.

Every 24/48 hours I get the "Video not found" message for most of the previous days (and sometimes that same day) video clips.

Why does the vitamin d Agent process decide to do this on it's own...and I'm not stopping and restarting vitamin d - so what's up?

I think vitamin d is great at motion detection, but this is an obvious showstopper and a fix has to be found.

Thanks,

Happy Holidays

How long have you been running VDV on the computer? How many videos are being kept "by rule"?

The only thing that I can think of is that the 65GB is used up by "By Rule" videos leaving no room for "Not by rule" videos to be kept for 7 days.

I have never understood how the program decides which videos to delete when (allocated) diskspace is used up. I know it tries to keep "By Rule" videos the longest and gives me the option to keep all videos for some finite period, but at what point does it start to delete the "By Rule" videos instead of the user-desired-to-keep "Not by rule" videos.
