Camera Tracking

by barto » Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:02 pm

I have set two "across the boundary" rules.

Each is down the center of the image, one looking for people passing to the right and one the other to the left.

When these are activated, I execute a program the makes my camera either turn right or left accordingly.

So effectivly im making it so is tracking people.

The problem I have is that it takes a long time before it issues the command and therefore the people are long gone.

Is it possible for the action to happen quicker?

Hi barto,

There is a few second delay built into the system. We need several frames of video to commit to decisions, such as "is this a person or not?".

Additionally, if you are panning cameras that VDV is tracking you will likely get odd results. When you move a camera suddenly the whole scene is shifting around; the camera will need some time to relearn the new view. Additionally, it won't know how to respond to that motion itself; did something huge just go by? Did someone walk very close to the camera? Earthquake? You will likely get notifications about objects that weren't really there.
