Scripting disabling of video or email alerts, HELP!

by whoamib » Thu Jan 10, 2013 1:55 pm

I have a huge need to be able to script the disabling of video recording and sending email alerts. Right now I use AutoIT do manually do the mouse clicks to get the locations to disable the video but I'm really having trouble disabling only alerts. Right now I have setup AutoIT to do all of the mouse clicks to get all of the way to change the username on the account used to log in to the email server but this doesn't work reliably at all. I would really appreciate a way to get it to disable the alerts without having to use AutoIT.

I can't even find a registry key where the username field is stored. Scripting a registry key update would be easy if I knew where that username was stored.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Ben

Do you want to disable a rule based on the time of day or day of week? Or do you want to disable them because of some other random event?

VDV does allow rules to be applied based on time/day. Once a rule is defined, you can click on the blue link in the center of the line that lists that rule (below the main view window) and you will get a dialog where you can select what days and times that rule is to be active. If you need a rule to be active multiple times per day then multiple, otherwise identical rules, can be defined and each set to be active at certain times.

VDV will still record all video as temporary files for the camera, but the alerts issued by the rule will not occur and the motion data files will not be marked as "Saved by rule". If you want to also "save by rule" but have no alert issued, then create another rule that saves the video only but does not define any alert to be issued and limit its use to only the times the other rules are not active.

If you are wanting to disable a rule due to some external event (or the user's whim) using a script of some sort, I, personally, don't know of a way to do so. Maybe one of the techs here can address that.

Semper is correct about the time settings, perhaps that can some your problem? Otherwise please see my response to your post in the troubleshooting forum: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7064
