Re: Video from RTSP camera gets corrupted

Hello

I have the same problem with a Hikvison camera, live view from vlc or directly from the web interface of the camera is perfect, while VDV images are corrupted, I tried to change all settings of the camera, even lowering the frame rate but the result does not change.
I also tried to set it up as and use the generic streming RSTP, but the problem is not resolved, unfortunately I can not find the way to use the steaming TCP, seems to not work!
My camera is listed, it should work properly or I'm wrong?

Thanks, bye.

Hi khris81,

What model Hikvision camera do you have? Do you have the most recent firmware? Have you changed any of the camera's default settings? What alternate URLs have you tried accessing the camera at?

The only Hikvision cameras I personally was able to test worked when using MPEG4 encoding as noted in the setup. Other streams should work properly in the next release. Until then you should ensure that your camera is configured to broadcast in MPEG4 (which may require a firmware update).

I had a similar problem with Ubiquiti airVision cameras.

The "blur" effect as in the OP's screenshot would randomly happen, and later disappear, thus triggering motion detection. Honestly I found these cameras to be kinda cheap and low resolution, so I just stopped using them - but I mention it incase this is useful to tracking down an actual stream problem. The "blur" used to always happen in the lower half of the video if I remember correctly.

I believe I have resolved this issue - if anyone is experiencing corrupt rtsp streams and would be willing to test something for me, drop me an email, ryan@ or a PM here.

Hi Scuzy,

Assuming that your camera supports TCP you can attempt to force a tcp connection by appending "svforcetcp" to the query string of the URL. If your url had no query string (anything with a "?" character), simply append "?svforcetcp".
Code: Select all
path/to/video

would become
Code: Select all
path/to/video?svforcetcp

If you already had a query string, for example
Code: Select all
cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0

that would become
Code: Select all
cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&svforcetcp
