Is this an "out of focus" thing or an image resolution difference? I'd bet on the resolution being different in the two methods of displaying the camera image. The Browser access is probably at the highest resolution the camera can do, but you may have set the resolution to something smaller in VDV. I think VDV defaults all images to 320x240 but it can handle higher resolutions if you so desire.
Select the camera, then click on the "Tools" menu and select "Edit Camera...". In the dialog box that appears, look at the 'Save video at" dropdown box near the middle of the window and see if you can select a higher resolution.
Be mindful that using higher resolutions will take more disk space and tax the CPU with more work to process the images.
Other than this problem, what do you think of the camera? How good is it in bright light (sun) and how useful at low light (night)? Do moving objects smear? I am always on the lookout for "better" cameras in those particular areas. I just bought an HP 3100 and it provides a wider field of view that most webcams and has pretty good bright and dark capability (not all that good, but better than most). It still has some motion smearing in dim light, but not as bad as some cameras do. The bad thing is that the camera is nearsighted; things far away are blurry. (The HP 3110 has remote focus ability.) I am going to try to put an old pair of my glasses in front of it to see if corrective lenses will help! (Is this possibly the problem with your camera... Did you test it with the browser while viewing close objects and now with VDV are you viewing distant objects?... just a thought.)
