Record Only when movement/people are detected??

by robnbill » Sat Oct 23, 2010 10:26 am

I've looked at the three software options for the Mac - including this one which seems it has the features I would like. I am about to install an Axis 207W via Wifi on our Airport Extreme today.

Before I purchase the basic edition - I'd like to ensure it can be set to record clips ONLY when it detects motion. Based on the web site I see it can mark sections of the recordings where motion has been detected. While that's good - I don't want a bunch of blank video and the accompanying storage required.

The implication is that motion can trigger an event which will allow the recoding of only that - plus issue - say an email alert.

Is that correct?

Thanks - Rob

Downloaded the free version - answers the questions - now I'll upgrade.

Hi robnbill,

As you've found it is possible to mark only some clips to be saved for an extended period. We keep all video for a certain amount of time on disk in case you need to go back and investigate something we might have missed, all disk space you've allocated past this is dedicated to the clips you marked for saving.
