Agents during hibernation

by Donone » Thu Jun 23, 2011 8:37 am

I have my computer set to hibernate at night and wake up next morning.
I now notice that since setting that I ran out of memory.
The culprit was at least 25 agent processes running where normally with one camera I have 5 if I remember.
On turning off the camera and closing VDV I noticed that the agent processes were still present hogging memory. I had to restart the system.

Is there a problem here?

That certainly isn't the desired behavior. There is a lot of special code to handle states such as sleep/hibernate (it really isn't good when you're recording/parsing video and from one frame to the next suddenly 8 hours have passed). It sounds like when your machine is coming out of hibernate the camera processes are frozen AND for some reason the OS isn't letting us terminate the process.

Next time your machine comes out of the hibernate state if you notice that there are more processes than there were before could you submit a bug report from inside the application? The logs might provide some indication as to what is going on.

Thanks,

Thank you for the reply. I will do as you suggest if it occurs again. It has benn hibernating on/off for a couple of days and has not yet repeated. I will keep an eye open.
