FTP making laptop hang

by kenm2000 » Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:42 pm

Hi. When i use your latest software with my laptop (windows 7 64 bit) the vitamin d software freezes during ftp uploads. I have worked out that it would upload maybe 2 videos to my ftp before hanging/freezing. When i close the vitamin d software and reopen it, the software is okay until the next batch of videos are uploaded (and then hangs again). Is this because the vitamin d software cant cue several videos at once in a queue? Maybe its because my broadband upload speeds arent that fast to handle many videos in a queue? When it works its great, but only for a couple of videos before hanging. Is this a known issue? Or should i try a different laptop with windows Vista? Thanks.

Hi kenm,

Sorry you're having trouble. I'm not aware of any issues that might cause ftp to freeze. Bandwidth shouldn't be an issue, VDV will simply try to upload as many as it can. (In the tools->FTP status it is possible to see how may uploads are pending and cancel them if they are behind for some reason).

As far as different laptop, hard to say. Sometimes strange issues can arise from other software installed/running on the machine. I'd recommend submitting a bug report from inside the application after you see the freeze. This will send us some debug logs that will enable us to see if something is going wrong inside the app.
