Cisco CIVS-IPC-2421

by DAMelahn » Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:42 pm

This camera appears fine when using a browser from the cam server. But in the vitamin d software it will not connect all the time and when it does connect the image freezes constantly. What could be the issue? Other cameras (not this same type) work ok.

Hi DAMelahn,

Browsers are not always representative of what data VDV is receiving. The embedded browser version may be connecting to a different stream type (MJPEG can fall behind, whereas MPEG must process all frames), a different size/frame rate stream, tolerant of data loss (able to disconnect/reconnect without care, whereas VDV needs uninterrupted streams to maintain knowledge of the scene), etc...

When you say it freezes, does the video then resume, or does it disconnect and then reconnect? Is this camera connected via wifi or over ethernet?

Ethernet is always preferred, it very well could be that bandwidth is an issue. I would suggest looking at the settings of the camera and ensuring that the resolution is not any/much larger than you are requesting VDV to save, that FPS is set down to 10fps, and perhaps try changing the stream type if those do not help (switching from MJPEG to MPEG4 or vice versa).

Hopefully that helps, if not, let us know.
